All instruments are based on the SAMD21G18 microcontroller from Microchip that is used in the Arduino Zero family. They were developed in a way so that they can be loaded with the MKR Zero bootloader and programmed like an arduino. This allows everyone to code their own program and to load it on their instrument using the Arduino IDE or Atmel Studio.
